The wrong plug and a blunt axe
I have a food processor in my kitchen, it came out with a round two prong plug, not sure why some manufacturers do this, also not sure why we cannot have only one plug type and one usb type. Let me not digress. A round two prong plug does not fit into a normal two prong plug fitting (an elongated hexagon). I had one round fitting in my home, this was used for something else. Each time I wanted to use the food processor, I had to go and unplug the other appliances and then plug in the food processor. When I was finished with the food processor I had to do the reverse.
I am not sure how many times I had to do this before I realised I should just buy another round fitting. Even if you get in your car right there and then, you would over the long run save time. Yet, I always "did not have time" that very moment. Eventually I purchased the additional fitting and oh what joy to now use the food processor.
You probably have a number of examples like this yourself.
Here is a video clip to watch:
The gist of the video is that the woodcutter states that he did not have time to sharpen his axe, he was too busy cutting down trees (with a blunt axe).
In the business world this behaviour is common. We do not have time to strategise, we do not have time to find our Why, we are busy answering emails, resending FICA documents, doing the same marketing over and over etc.
Can I challenge you to be on the lookout for better ways to do whatever you do. Whether it may be at home, at work or in your business. Let us then implement the better way and open up time to find and implement more better ways one better way at a time.
Please tell us about the better ways you have found or any other thoughts you may have.
